Just off the coast of Turkey is the small island of Samos, one of the many Greek islands in the Aegean Sea. The small village of Pythagorio is where Marina and Owen celebrated their wedding. With guests travelling from Ireland and Australia, Greece was a good middle ground for their wedding. Also a very fitting and meaningful location as Samos is where Marina’s family originated.
Choosing to have a Greek orthodox ceremony in the picturesque village church was a must. The location offered all we needed for great wedding portraits and a ceremony to remember. In Greek orthodox tradition the bride walks to her groom outside the church to be handed off by her father and receive her bouquet from her groom. Guests watch on either side while the groom waits inside a small circle for her to arrive. After they meet they walk into the church together for the ceremony.
After the ceremony and portraits the party took place outside at the Proteas Blu Resort overlooking the sea. The party continued under the stars and into the early hours.
Enjoy a little bit of Greece blog readers.
