Insider Wedding Tip – Extra Portrait Time

Worried that your late wedding ceremony time means forfeiting some of your time with guests during your drinks reception? Fear not. An insider tip I love sharing with my couples is you realistically have an extra 15-30 minutes that you didn’t know was there. When your guests are called to take their seats for dinner make use of the time you will be waiting to be called into the room for a few wedding portraits.

In my nearly 2 decades of photographing weddings I have a rhythm, I know what key moments make a wedding, and I have my own approach on the day to achieve what I want for each couple. I spent two days with them and their crew traipsing from one iconic spot to the next.

Julies choice of dress change (a one off @colleenatwoodofficial original for a demure ceremony look and sequin fitted gown for the after party) elevated each part of the day.

I was not the popular girl in school. Never the overachiever. Certainly not an academic. I gravitated toward art and sport. I never wanted to stand out in the crowd. I felt comfortable behind the camera.

I love weddings and photography. I love the artistic and physical aspect of documenting a wedding day. Getting recognition was not the goal, but it’s beyond words to have it. I just want to keep producing work my clients love.
