It was a brilliant one! Rachel & Dermot decided to have their wedding ceremony in the conservatory, a lovely glass building with a fountain and lots of greenery. A real treat! Kilshane House is stunning and so are the gardens, though we opted to stick close to the main house as it was a bit chilly outside, you know being winter and all. But we braved the cold none the less! Rachel looked stunning in her David Fielden gown, Jimmy Choos and over sized birdcage veil. I loved her veil! *Swoon! Having their ceremony and reception in the same building meant everyone could relax and enjoy themselves a little more. It also meant a later ceremony and portraits during sunset. Much to our delight it was a big success and we're already in talks about hosting another event. So be sure to watch this space for updates! The idea behind The White Event is to grow the alternative wedding industry in Ireland and to connect wedding vendors who are passionate to create something different with like-minded brides and grooms. We want these events to feel intimate so that everyone has a chance to share, chat and ask questions. Not only do the guests get to hear from industry experts but there's the added visual elements of a real wedding. We chose to style the event with 2 different wedding themes. Each theme had a story behind it and Deirdre of Ruby & Bloom talked us through each style and where the inspiration behind each theme was created and how to effectively create a style from your own inspiration. We created a space that had all the elements of a real wedding. I won't give too much away, if you're interested you'll just have to join our next event! Helping to style the evening was Cloudberry Bakery, Me Auld China, Pretty as a Picture, Best of Buds, Covet, Dirty Fabulous, Ruby & Bloom, The Bridal Lounge and Caterhire. Our guests wined and dined on tasty treats, teas, coffee, and lemonade served from jam jars. Being the first event I've hosted I'm delighted with the response and can't thank everyone involved enough for their help and support. Our 4 fabulous guest speakers Ciara of Style Serendipity, Naoise of One Fab Day, Claire of White Sage Events, and Deirdre of Ruby & Bloom delivered fantastic presentations with lots of useful tips. At the end of the evening guests had a chance to relax, mingle, and speak directly to each vendor. As much as I enjoy being behind my camera and in the background I have to say it was refreshing to step into the spotlight for a change. I'm not much of a public speaker and really have to push myself to do it, but I really enjoyed being able to give something back to the wedding community and future brides and grooms. Hopefully my days as an MC are just beginning and there will be many more successful events to come. Of course as much as I wasn't behind my camera for this event I couldn't quite tear myself away from taking a few snaps of the evening. Enjoy some eye candy!]]>

Being an Irish wedding it was bound to rain at some point, but the hardest rain of the day came down during the ceremony. It will no doubt be a lovely memory they will cherish forever. Tara and Paul incorporated so many perfect details to their day. My favourite being their home brewed Carrick Mountain Beer and Tree Bark Ale. How clever! The moment I saw Tara's 1950s Vintage Ciel Chapman dress from The Goddess Room I knew this wedding was going to be fabulous. Actually, scratch that, I knew from their engagement shoot I was in for a treat! Tara and Paul had an array of fabulous details from The French Touch, Pearl & Godiva, and Boxty. Paul sported a really slick grey suit bought and tailored in London. London seems to be the fashionable spot to find mens suits. Joanne Kelly and Sheena O'Brien did outstanding work on hair and makeup, not that Tara needs it of course, she's a natural beauty! The wedding was a relaxed one with the drinks reception in the main house by open fires and the dinner in the marquee out in the garden under the twinkly lit trees. The wedding menu was created so everyone could swap or share. I thought it was a great way of adding extra fun. Desserts were served on huge platters, each table getting a different dessert so everyone could pass and share. One thing I've noted at my times at Ballybeg is their ability to do food well. If you're a foodie this is a place to consider! Lastly, congratulations to Tara & Paul and to all the guests who took pity on a rain drenched photographer and offered to share their umbrella during the wedding ceremony!]]>

It was a super fun and relaxed wedding day and I had my trusty sidekick Christine Burns along with me. Claire & Jeff were married in the small chapel on the grounds of Brooklodge. I can't say enough good things about having your wedding ceremony so near to your reception. It makes for a much more relaxed day. Claire had emailed me the details of her wedding dress before the wedding and I thought it was just lovely. But on the wedding day she had another dress, and oh boy it was a treat! Claire chose a gorgeous vintage lace tea length dress from Dirty Fabulous. It really complimented her and her sparkly Christian Louboutin shoes. Michelle from The Powder Room Girls created a perfect style to compliment Claire's vintage dress. She looked like a classic Hollywood starlit. Jeff looked pretty slick in his fitted grey suit too. I do love a good fitting suit on a groom. Claire and Jeff thanks for sharing your fun, romantic, and relaxed wedding day with me. And that's partly the reason Colin gladly relinquished his role as my personal web developer. This girl changes her mind ALL the time. Also a big thanks to Rodolphe at Best Day Productions for putting together a special new video for my shiny new site. He worked hard into the wee hours to get it just perfect. Of course I have to thank Ciara (past bride and owner of Style Serendipity) for her very touching testimonial, and also Rachel and Simon (bride & groom to be) for letting me video their engagement shoot. You're all fantastic and a pleasure to work with. But by far the biggest thanks goes to my husband Colin. A big part of him also went into this new site. Any of you who work with your partner know it can definitely be a challenge. And it couldn't have been a picnic when I change my mind every 10 seconds or have completely different design ideas. Colin you're the perfect yin to my yang. I like things to be done now and often overlook important elements and you like to take your time and figure things out until the cows come home. But I think the new site is a true testament to how amazing and smart you truly are and that we can actually accomplish a design project together - even if I drive you insane ;). Calling all brides-to-be! Brosnan Photographic and The Bridal Lounge have teamed up to bring you The White Event. The White Event is a fresh concept in wedding inspiration and education. This event will bring together brides and vendors with the same goal – to create unique, fun, non traditional weddings. We believe every wedding should be beautiful and above all personal to the couple getting married.

The White Event will be an intimate evening of inspiration, banter, and tasty treats. We’ve invited along some fab ladies in the wedding industry who will be speaking on current trends, ideas, and giving helpful tips for your big day.

Here’s our guest speaker lineup:
Ciara O’Halloran (Style Serendipity) – Ciara will be sharing her personal experience of breaking away from a traditional wedding.
Naoise McNally (One Fab Day) – Naoise is going to give us tips on finding the right vendors to suit your budget and style.
Claire Barry (White Sage) – Claire will be talking wediquette, emergency kits, and myths. All the essentials on the run up to the big day.
Deirdre Hynes (Ruby & Bloom) – Deirdre will be talking inspiration, trends, planning, and styling tips to help you create a personal and individual wedding.

If that isn’t enough we’ll be styling the event to perfection to add extra inspiration and get your creative juices flowing. We like to think of it as a ‘mini wedding’ and you’ll be our guest! Our fab vendors include Pretty as a Picture, Cloudberry Bakery, Me Auld China, Dirty Fabulous, Best of Buds Florists, and many more.


What you’ll get from The White Event is new ideas, ways to create and communicate your vision, and a relaxed evening of sharing. There will be open discussions and time to chat with the creative vendors involved.

When? Tuesday the 24th of April. 18:30 to 21:30.

Where? The Back Loft at La Catedral Studios on Saint Augustine Street in Dublin.

Why The White Event? The alternative wedding industry took America by storm and it’s slowly making it’s way overseas. We’ve seen a need to help brides find their inspiration and create something totally original. We’re here to help you find ways of creating what you’re seeing abroad in a way that can be translated on Irish soil with Irish weather for Irish couples.

This was the brainchild of Fly Away Bride. It all came together beautifully. And how could it not with such fab vendors? On hand was Farrell & Chase, Pearl & Godiva, Cloudberry Bakery, Ellie Balfe, Michelle O’Halloran, Covet, and our two fabulous models Aisling Finnegan and Eider Leite. For the relaunch of Fly Away Bride they wanted to share some inspiration for a travel themed wedding. So where better than on board a boat? We shot on the MV Cill Airne , and yes it is available for private functions if anyone’s interested. The decor and attire was inspired by the 1930s with beautiful gowns from Covet and a vintage suit from Harlequinn in Dublin. Little travel theme touches like compasses, miniature ships, and telescopes were added to create the theme.

I love working on inspiration shoots. Mostly because I get to inspire future brides. But also because it’s a day out of the lonely office having a bit of banter with good friends. However a big thank you goes to Aga of White Tea for lending a hand. I woke up that morning with a small tummy bug and was feeling seriously unwell by midday. Thankfully with a bit of food and caring people I managed to carry on for the second half. And boy am I glad I didn’t miss it, so many pretty things to photograph!

I’m also delighted that the shoot was featured in the Irish Times Magazine!


And of course no shoot would be complete without the fab work of Best Day Productions!
