Christiana and Jim’s wedding is a special one not just because it’s oh so pretty but because the bride is one of my oldest friends.
Back when we were both wearing pigtails Christiana and I became ‘across the fence’ best friends. We grew apart when my family moved when I was about 10 years old and it wasn’t until years later when Facebook became all the rage that we reconnected. I was beyond honoured and thrilled that after 17 years apart we would meet again when she asked me to photograph her wedding. It was as if it was always meant to be when I happened to be travelling back to Chicago around the time of her wedding and also that she was planning an Irish inspired wedding meant she’d have her photographer from Ireland! But enough about us and onto the wedding…
Christiana and Jim first met on Paddy’s Day 8 years ago, just one of their many reasons for an Irish themed wedding. They chose the gorgeous surroundings of Tir Na Nóg Estate in Lake Villa for their outdoor ceremony and reception which the day before a strong storm threatened to destroy all their hard work but thankfully the next day turned out to be perfect for a wedding.
Most of the credit goes to Christiana and Jim for creating the details including the stationary, vintage library cards seating chart, sweets table, and ceremony aisle mason jars. The bride is a huge fan of classic literature and used quotes and pages from favourite books such as Wuthering Heights and Little Woman. Other vendors that contributed to the beauty were Lovin Oven Cakery, Laura’s Flower Shoppe, Samantha Gribble, Le Cape Weddings, Catered Productions, and Character Fleadh. The bride of course looked stunning in her gown by Allure Bridals and the groom wore a slick Hugo Boss grey suit with custom bow tie in traditional County Cork tartan.
There’s so much I can say about Christiana and Jim’s wedding but I’ll let their photos do the rest of the talking. Be sure to catch more of this wedding on Style Me Pretty
