Cinque Terre, Italy
August 5th, 2010.Last week I was in Cinque Terre, Italy visiting family that was over from Chicago on holidays. I was only there for a couple nights but it sure is a great spot to visit. The name Cinque Terre means “The Five Lands” and is comprised of 5 villages. It is set on the rugged coast of the Italian Riviera. The five villages are connected by train, ferry and trails. To hike from the first village to the last village takes about 5 hours at a steady non-stop pace and is not for the faint hearted. Portions of the trails are quite rigorous especially in the hot sun! They seriously need to make t-shirts that say “I survived the Cinque Terre trails”!
