Second Shooting In Wexford
July 6th, 2010.Second shooting sounds like something not related to photography at all, it sounds more like a term a hunter would use. But alas it is a term used often in the world of wedding photographers. I’m not sure how new or old the concept is but it’s fairly new to me. When you’re a “second shooter” you are basically tagging along with another photographer but not as their assistant. Second shooting is a fantastic way to work with other photographers and see how they work if ever you need to call on them for emergencies (or visa verse), it’s a great way to test out new equipment, and it’s also just good fun. There is no pay involved, just the payment of seeing how others work, picking up good ideas, and getting to try shots you wouldn’t normally.
This is the second wedding where I was the second shooter and I’ve absolutely become addicted. This time I tagged along with the fab Dave McClelland for Angie and Conor’s wedding in Wexford. Here are a few of my snaps from the day. We were really unlucky with the weather and unfortunately only got a few minutes outside for photos.
As a second shooter I got all the enjoyment of photographing a wedding for the day without all the pressure of making sure I got every shot. Dave also let me have a go at his tilt-shift lens! I made an awful mess of it but it was great just to give it a try. I’ll still be drooling over it until the day I get my own!

Love them! Love them! Love them!
You were an absolute joy to work with Christina and I can’t wait to do it all over again this month!
I must email Angie - she’ll be delighted to feature on Brosnan Photographic!
Dave

Beautiful work Christina. So what is a tilt-shift lens do?
Hi Christina,
take care,
I LOVE the shots. it’s wonderful to see the different shots you got on the day. You captured parts of the day that I had totally forgotten about and pics of people that no one seemed to get - in all the thousands of pics I’ve looked at at this stage.
Thanks for bringing back wonderful memories of the best day of our lives…. so far
We’ll be sure to recommend both you and Dave to lucky brides and grooms to be
Angie & Conor xx
