Sseko Designs | Shoes for a Better World

As some of you may know I’ve become a big fan of all things eco and green. But I’ve also started becoming a fan of products that help make our world a better place. I don’t remember how I came across Sseko Designs. It was probably another great find from Twitter to be honest. I was in love with Sseko sandals from the moment I saw them. It could have been the very cute website, the pretty feet that are photographed with the shoes, the colourful fabrics, but it was probably just the super rootin tootin darn cute sandals themselves. I mean look at them! I’ve been drooling over a pair for a while now and I finally had a reason to purchase some. I’ll be taking these babies with me to Thailand in December (more about that coming soon). There is so much to love about Sseko Designs.

Sseko Designs was started by a girl named Liz. Liz is American. After travelling to Uganda in 2008 she began Sseko Designs to give women in Kampala the chance to work and make money to attend University. In an impoverished and male dominated society, many of these young women struggle to find fair work.

Like I said, there is so much to love about these shoes. I love that they have interchangable straps that allow you to coordinate with any outfit. I love that every pair purchased goes to help educate the women in Kampala, and even though I was skeptical at first I love how comfy they are. Oh and the best part about the sandals is that you can wear them so many ways! Because the straps are changable you can thread them any way you like. Check out Liz’s YouTube page for great demonstrations on different ways to wear your sandals. Did I mention also that Sseko’s are great for your bridesmaids? Sseko now offers customised straps to match any wedding colour. Click here to find out more.

I wish I had a reason to purchase more pairs of these great shoes. Or maybe one day Liz will create other types of shoes. Another one I have on my list is a pair of TOMS shoes. For every pair purchased, a pair gets donated to a child in need. How much better can it get?

Thanks Liz for inspiring me and giving me a great pair of sandals!
