Mary + Robert | Married in Athlone

. category: Uncategorized
  • Mary and Robert have a similar story to Colin and I. So I really enjoyed being a part of their wedding. Mary is from California and met Robert when she was on a visit to Ireland while studying in France. The rest is history as they say. Mary's father is originally from Athlone and one of her reason's for visiting Ireland. He moved to California many years ago and this was his first visit back since leaving. It's quite an intriguing story. I wish I was there on the night of the rehearsal to capture the emotion of setting foot for the first time in his old parish again.

Mary and Robert thoroughly enjoyed their wedding and didn't let a little rain stop them from having fun (rain seems to be the trend in all my weddings lately!). They agreed to stop at a nearby park for a few photos despite the misting rain. It was cause for some great umbrella shots! There were so many great photos from their wedding but I can hardly post them all. So here are a few I selected to show you.

I got a new idea in my head recently and I think it was executed well at this wedding. The idea is titled: What happens to my wedding cake? This is the second wedding I've photographed this idea. Not sure if it will be a trend at every wedding but we'll see. I hope it was a nice surprise for the couple. The staff at the hotels look at me like I am crazy but I don't mind. Great shots come from crazy ideas! Sometimes it's fun to push the boundaries.

Ceremony Location: St. Mary's Church, Athlone, Co.Westmeath

Reception Location: Shamrock Lodge Hotel, Athlone, Co.Westmeath

    Until next time..
