Claire + Eddie’s Wedding in Westmeath Part 1

I first met Clarie and Eddie last year and I knew instantly I wanted to photograph their wedding. We sat in Avoca with our cups of coffee chatting for an hour about wedding plans. They are both very stylish and I knew that was going to come across in their wedding. You may remember Claire and Eddie from their recent engagement session. Having already photographed them I was able to see how they interacted as a couple and got to know them better which definitely paid off on their wedding day. I have so many favourites of the two of them. They also used their engagement photos for a guest book. Seeing the reaction from guests over the guest book was very rewarding. Claire and Eddie I cannot express enough how delighted I was to be a part of your wedding day. Thank you for such fabulous images! I had so many favourites this is a two part blog post! More coming soon..

A Few Things Wedding I’m In Love With Today

Most of you may not know this but I am an addict for awesome wedding blogs. It’s what keeps me creative, inspired and up to date with the latest wedding photography trends. For those of you who are tired with online wedding websites and wedding magazines that are overly saturated with ads here are a few wedding blogs to get your creative juices flowing. They are chalk full of real weddings. Here is just a few of the many I follow: Wedding Belles, The Wedding Chicks, Style Me Pretty, Once Wed, Ruffled, Green Wedding Shoes, and Lucky Me!. They give me so many great ideas and I wish I had discovered them when I was planning my own wedding. A few things I’m in love with at the moment are the beautiful wedding websites by Wedding Jojo, customisable downloads from The Wedding Chicks, and stylish grooms. Check out these custom made trousers from Franklin and Gower!

Second Shooting In Wexford

Second shooting sounds like something not related to photography at all, it sounds more like a term a hunter would use. But alas it is a term used often in the world of wedding photographers. I’m not sure how new or old the concept is but it’s fairly new to me. When you’re a “second shooter” you are basically tagging along with another photographer but not as their assistant. Second shooting is a fantastic way to work with other photographers and see how they work if ever you need to call on them for emergencies (or visa verse), it’s a great way to test out new equipment, and it’s also just good fun. There is no pay involved, just the payment of seeing how others work, picking up good ideas, and getting to try shots you wouldn’t normally.

This is the second wedding where I was the second shooter and I’ve absolutely become addicted. This time I tagged along with the fab Dave McClelland for Angie and Conor’s wedding in Wexford. Here are a few of my snaps from the day. We were really unlucky with the weather and unfortunately only got a few minutes outside for photos.

As a second shooter I got all the enjoyment of photographing a wedding for the day without all the pressure of making sure I got every shot. Dave also let me have a go at his tilt-shift lens! I made an awful mess of it but it was great just to give it a try. I’ll still be drooling over it until the day I get my own!

Natasha + Tony | Kildare Wedding Photographer

Natasha and Tony had a beautiful civil ceremony and wedding at Barberstown Castle. I was really excited to photograph their wedding because I had just helped photograph a wedding there and fell in love with the venue. So I was eager to go back. Barberstown Castle has a real cosy atmosphere with open wood burning fireplaces. The detail in the reception hall is just stunning with high back chairs, cast iron chandeliers and hard wood floors. You’ll feel like you stepped into an age of Kings and Queens. There is so much character in the place. Equally as nice are the gardens around the castle. In particular there is this great big weeping willow, a photographers playhouse. I want to say thanks to Natasha and Tony for including me in their special day and allowing me to photograph at such a winning location. Congratulations you two!

Sinead + Adrian | Dublin Wedding Photographer

Sinead and Adrian had a traditional Irish wedding. After the ceremony we intended to take photos with the bridal party at The Mill in Celbridge but when we got there it was closed. So we quickly had a rethink and went to Castletown which was only down the road. We were supposed to have permission to photograph there but luckily the security guard was very kind and let us in. Close call! I’d never been to Castletown before but I was nicely suprised and it turned out to be a great spot for photos. We had just enough time for a few snaps before the weather turned on us and it was time to head to the reception.

Congratulations Sinead and Adrian! Hope you’re enjoying the honeymoon!
